What's the plot?

Was Shakespeare a fraud? That’s the question posed in ‘Anonymous’, and one that’s puzzled academics since the most renowned and respected works in English literature were first performed.

Set in the cloak and dagger world of Elizabethan England and featuring the best of British thespian talent, ‘Anonymous’ suggests a possible answer to this historic conundrum against a backdrop of political intrigue, forbidden liaisons and scheming noblemen that were the inspiration for the works attributed to the writer; but ones that may well have come from the pen of another.

Great story ... must see.

Best film i have seen in a long time. I would highly recommend it, one of the best films of the year without a doubt.

okay to start dont take this as an historical drama of truth. its a great work of fiction, well acted well constructed well written and a damn good film. not too predictable like so many others. take this film for what it is a damn good one. dont over analyse it. i'm a big fan of shakespeares works, love them and love pieriod dramas. but i dont damn the film for the subject. again an epic work of fiction. well written and a must see
