What's the plot?

Winner of the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay

Comedy drama ‘The Descendants’, from the director of Oscar-winning Sideways, follows Matt King (George Clooney), a complacent and wealthy Hawaiian landowner who is forced to reappraise his comfortable existence when his wife is killed in an accident.

The film examines his relationship with his two daughters as he decides whether or not to sell the land that’s kept the family rich since they were awarded it by Hawaiian royalty hundreds of years previously.

‘The Descendants’ also stars Judy Greer (Love and Other Drugs) and Matthew Lillard (House).

Really can't see how the film was so richly awarded. There were a few funny bits, but overall it really didn't go anywhere - just sort of bimbled along. Disappointing.

I think George is a great actor, but his choices arent great. The Peacemaker, Oceans 11 and 13 were "A" Class Clooney films. The Descendants, although well made and flowing, just didnt hit the mark for me. I got the sentement of the film, but if your looking for an action film, go with Safe House.
