What's the plot?

William Shakespeare’s tale of treachery and revenge in Rome, ‘Coriolanus’ is brought to the screen by Ralph Fiennes, who also takes the lead role.

One of the city’s most beloved heroes is banished after his hatred of the people sparks rioting and chaos. Swearing to get even, he joins forces with his arch-enemy who is intent on destroying the Roman capital. But can his cunning ways help him outwit the most devious leaders in the ancient world?

‘Coriolanus’ also stars Gerard Butler (300) and Jessica Chastain (The Tree of Life).

This is the best adaptation of a Shakespeare plan that I have seen. Plenty of action, fantastic acting, especially from Ralph Fiennes, Gerard Butler and Vanessa Redgrave. The mixture of the modern setting and Shakespearian language works really well, with a lovely cameo role from a real TV newsreader! However, it is long with a thoughtful plot and you need to like Shakespearian language! A different and great evening's entertainment. Definitely recommend it!

A must for all Shakespeare/Fiennes fans, the play is made anew but keeps the original old English speech. A film you have to concentrate throughout, however the fight scenes are excellent and acting superb as expected of the fine actors. Will see over again and again.
